NCD Programme consist of two Programmes

  • NPCDCS- National Programme for Prevention & Control of Cancer, Diabetes, Cardiovascular Diseases & Stroke
  • NPHCE- National Programme for Health Care of Elderly

NPCDCS- A brief introduction

  • In this Programme opportunistic screening is done for sugar with the help of Glucometers to detect early signs of Diabetes. Screening is carried out by MPW(M)/ANM.
  • Hypertension screening is also carried out by MPW(M)/ANM with the help of Electronic BP Monitors.
  • The screening age is 30 years or above.
  • Under this programme NCD clinic are to be established at CHCs.
  • Each NCD clinic shall have one Medical Officer, One Staff Nurse, one Data Entry operator & one Lab Tech.
  • NCD clinic at DH shall have One Medical Officer,Two staff Nurses, One data entry operator & One Lab Tech
  • NCD clinics are to be established at CHC & District Hospital levels.
  •  Also 6 bedded CCU are to be established at District Hospital level which will be manned by one Cardiologist, four staff nurses.

NPHCE- A brief introduction

  • In this programme opportunistic of sugar & BP is carried out by MPW(M)/ANM. This screening age is 60 or above.
  • Here weekly Geriatric OPD to be run at PHCs by a trained MO.
  • In CHCs  Geriatric OPD to be held at daily basis.
  • In District Hospitals Geriatric OPD to be run on daily basis.
  • In District Hospitals a 10 bedded Geriatric ward is to be established.
  • Manpower in District Hospital two medical consultants, six staff nurses, one Physiotherapist, two Hospital attendants and two Sanitary attendants.
