Axom Sarba Siksha Abhijan Mission, Dibrugarh Text Box: Early Childhood Care and Education It is the pivot of all stages of education, a foundation on which the three stages of education-primary/secondary/higher secondary is built. By means of activity based teaching, this component targets the caring and education of Ka-sreni children which is supported by all the Primary and Anganwadi Centres. In all the six blocks, 20 nos. of Ka-sreni workers has been engaged by School Managing Committee (SMC) for supporting the Ka-sreni learners in single-teacher schools. There are 1184 nos of Govt/Provincialised LP schools in the district having Ka-Sreni and also 147 nos of TG Managed schools running KA-Sreni. Moreover there are 110 nos of Anganwadi centres for Ka-sreni.

Realizing the crucial importance of rapid physical and mental growth during early childhood, ECE component has taken up the following strategies-

* Integrated Child Development Scheme(ICDS)

* Set up of Balwadi day care centres run by voluntary agencies with SSA’s assistance.

* Maternal and Child health services through primary health centres and sub centres with SSA intervention.

* Organize training programmes for community leaders in this regard.

* Promotion of convergence between the school system and the ECCE arrangement.
